The transition from summer to autumn is not always easy! Parting ways with our summer wardrobe can be hard when faced with the prospect of frumpy winter clothing. However, there are many ways you can style your summer pieces as the weather cools, so that your transition into autumn is seamless.
Transition outfits are looks that incorporate pieces from your summer and winter wardrobe. Below are some tips for styling your favourite summer pieces, using warmer accessories.
The beloved, classic summer dress. Putting them away until next year would be sacrilegious! To wear your summer dress in autumn, pair it with a leather jacket, some warm tights and leather boots. Alternatively, a long, knit cardigan will keep you extra warm on days when the weather just can’t make up its mind.
For cooler seasons, dresses in muted colours are a good option as they complement your darker winter accessories. Our Ditsy Floral Wrap Dress is a great example! the mustard ensures it is appropriate for a cooler day, while the white pattern is lively and fun.
Teeshirts aren’t just for wearing with shorts and skirts!
Tuck a tee into some jeans or tailored pants and add a jacket or coat over the top. This look is great for work when paired with heels, or casually with sneakers. Our St Tropez Sequin Tee is perfect for this look.
Shorts can be one of the hardest items to transition because they can be so exposing, and we don’t want to get cold. In the cooler months, you can still wear your high waisted shorts - just pair them over knit tights! Our Check Shorts are a perfect fabric for cooler weather and look fantastic with a black long sleeve, and black knit tights. This look is great for those of us who are usually uncomfortable exposing our legs in shorts, as the dark tights provide a tad more coverage.
Similarly, you can warm up your legs in short skirts by wearing tights or knee-high socks. The socks will almost meet the hemline of your skirt, leaving little skin left out in the cold. Our Kick Hem Skater Skirt is a great trans-seasonal item, as its plain black colour means it will be very appropriate for the cooler months!
Alternatively, another good option in winter is a midi skirt. Our Leopard Midi Skirt is great for cooler weather – simply pair with a black long sleeve and black accessories, and even tights if you’re really feeling the chill!
